In cooperation with Freezzitt, Lutèce has founded a new company which has as its objective to introduce an entirely new service for customers in the foodservice market and foodstuff industry. On 1 July 2009, they took over Marque Champignons in Cuijk as part of this transaction.
Lutèce and Freezitt wish to offer an optimum and complete service to clients in the foodservice and foodstuff industry. Marque Champignons produces mushrooms in large cans and semi-preserved goods in buckets. These products are an excellent supplement to the semi-preserved goods and deep-freeze range which is presently put on the market for the food service and industry by Lutèce and Freezitt.
Flexibility, customer-specific solutions and the possibility to supply small batches are characteristic for the market approach of Marque Champignons. These aspects are of great importance for success in the foodservice and industry market. The large-scale production locations of Lutèce in Horst and Velden, which are aimed at retail, offer fewer opportunities to be able to serve the foodservice and industry in a cost-efficient and customer-oriented way. A complete range, from a dedicated, reliable, progressive player is attractive for the customers.
The activities of Marque Champignons are housed in a new company, which will be run by the management of Freezitt, together with the semi-preserved goods branch of Lutèce and the deep freeze activity of Freezitt. The management of Freezitt is fully equipped to direct a new company which will supply the foodservice and industry market, with all its specific characteristics.
The new company has a turnover of more than € 25 million a year.
Jeroen Koenen is managing director of FLM Food Ingredients.
Besides mushrooms in large cans and buckets of semi-preserved goods, deep-frozen mushrooms are produced at FLM Food Ingredients.
The deep-frozen mushrooms are produced in conformity with the wishes and demands from the customer in all kinds of qualities and packaging. The production process may differ with respect to the intensity of washing and the addition to the washing water, the way of cutting, blanching and intensity of blanching, adding of herbs, the way of freezing and the way of packaging.
The foodstuff industry buys 10 kilo packs but also large bins of 300 to even 750 kilos. The wholesalers buy 2.5 kilo packs and the retailers have packs from 450 grams to 1 kilo.
The largest markets are France, Germany, Belgium, Italy and Russia. However, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada and the USA are also important markets.
